Fit Dad Bod

If you want to know how to get a fit dad bod, you’re in the right place. I will tell you the tips and secrets on how to fit the time into your life when you have kids for how to get the body you want. First, let me say this, it’s hard to stay and get in shape; let’s just make that clear now. This is why you hear every year all of your friends talk about their New Year’s Resolutions, see all of these commercials, or just hear about people saying they want to drop the weight. If it was easy, everybody would do it, right? Getting a fit dad bod takes a lot of time and effort…its hard work! Then, you add kids in to the mix and you start asking yourself where the time is for all of this.

However, I am here to help you. I will talk to you about tips I found that have helped keep my fit dad bod while also remaining totally present in my kids life. It’s important for me to note that, because I value my time with my kids above anything else. So, let’s get right into it the details.

Transforming your body from the chubby dad bod will take a few things from you. Commitment, time, and lots of effort. If you can commit to those things and keep a long-term perspective, you will be in shape with a muscular dad bod in no time.

Where to start

The change to transform your current body into a fit dad bod starts in your mind. Understand the sacrifice you have to give in order to get the results you want. I usually ask my fiancé when she wants to accomplish something one simple question, “what are you willing to give up”. It’s not always about money either. A lot of the time we pay for goals with our time or energy. I will talk about how we pay for things with our time a bit later in this article.

The first thing you need to do is start visualizing the body you want to have! Visualize the emotions, activities, and experiences you will get from having a fit dad bod. Think about how your life would be different, and remember the words commitment, time, and effort. If you can embody those words, you will see your results.

Prioritizing your time

`When you chose to make the commitment to becoming a fit dad, the next thing you have to do is prioritize your time. Start with 45 minutes per day going to the gym. This way, you have plenty of time to help with the kids and be present, but also enough time to work out at the gym.

If you feel like 45 minutes is not enough time, plan your workout before you go. Remember, don’t text or scroll on social media too much during your workout or you’ll waste valuable time.

If you need to, hire a personal trainer or call a friend who you know likes to workout. See if they can help you make a 45 minute workout plan.

What Are You Really Willing To Give Up

Let’s go back and talk about some of the hard facts here. What are you really willing to do to meet your goals?

Often times, it is the things we don’t want to do that will help us the most. This is usually true when talking about personal development.

For example, let’s talk about a six pack, this is literally one of the hardest things to do in my opinion. I might have a two pack, and that’s on a good day. My cousin is a personal trainer and he tells me having a six pack is more about diet and constantly watching what’s entering your body. He tells me that he doesn’t want to have to do these things, but he is willing to in order to meet his goals.

As a dad, speaking to another dad, let’s talk about one thing most us like, beer. Ask yourself, are you willing to give it up? Would you do it if you knew that for six months of no beer, you would have the best body you’ve ever had?

This is what I meant earlier when I was talking about what you are willing to give up. Ask yourself these questions and it will help you figure out what sacrifices you are willing to make.

What the Ladies Like

Dad Bod Art

Here is the good stuff, do ladies like fit dad bods? The answer may surprise you, because it’s weird and not clear cut. The answer is…some do, and some don’t! We are subjective creatures and we all like what we like.

Some women love a chunky man and some women love a daily gym rat. It just depends on who your partner is! However, there are some things you need to know since it is 2020, and we are in the middle of a pandemic.

Right now, most people still aren’t comfortable going to the gyms even though some are open. A lot of people have lost that part of their life, which has caused some major issues. Especially for people like me who love going to the gym not just for working out, but also for playing basketball with the guys.

However, there are still small gyms you can attend like at an apartment, a smaller gym, or even an outdoor gym. The point is, find a gym that work for you.

As I mentioned earlier, we are living in Covid right now and a lot of us have picked up weight from being in quarantine for so long! That’s just a fact. Also, with it being 2020, eating healthy, yoga, and working out has never been more popular. Take advantage of the extra time you have at home and set the goals for the gym.
